Digital Europe in a Global Context

With the European Commission’s Digital Agenda at the centre of a multi-stakeholder online safety debate, FOSI’s 3rd Annual European Conference was held in London on May 10, 2011. Hosted by BT, more than 160 experts and attendees from more than twelve countries convened around the title of ‘Every European a Digital Citizen’.

In addition to an update on the recent EU Kids Online II report and Ofcom’s recent research, FOSI announced the launch of its First Ladies Initiative for Online Safety with support from the First Ladies of the Dominican Republic and Mexico.

GRID was also strongly featured with a presentation from Dave Miles on ‘Digital Europe in a Global Context‘ which explored the state of family online safety in Europe; the role of countries such as Denmark in their pioneering work in the field of digital citizenship and the United Kingdom’s role as probably the largest net exporter of best practice and expertise in recent years.
